We rounded our tour of the southern suburbs off with a visit to Sickla Köpkvarter. A mall I’ve heard much about, but that was ridiculously difficult to find. But anywhoo… Since I’ll also be helping ex to shop for the apartment (once bought) we took the opportunity to visit some interior decorating shops where we [...]

Flat-hunting, or “shopping with someone else’s money”
Posted in Life in the Arctic north, tagged flat-hunting, head cold, Stockholm, Welsh on February 28, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
I’ve spent most of today walking around the close southern suburbs of Stockholm. Why? To help the ex buy an apartment. Though Welsh he’s decided he likes Sweden and Stockholm enough to put roots down, and is thus looking to buy his first place. He wants to live as close to the city as possible [...]
First sign of spring

I saw one of the tell-tale signs of spring today – snowdrops (Galanthus)! We have them growing in one of the flower beds by my building. Very pretty! But I suppose we’re going into March, which many consider the first month of spring even though I keep claiming it’s rather the last of winter… It [...]
Mmm….eye candy, oh, I meant football!

Another night of fantastic football fun! But a night of difficult choices again… Who do I go for when my British team plays my Italian team? Chelsea takes on Juventus tonight, and it’s simply not an easy choice to make. My heart is leaning towards Juve, and my eyes even more so…EYE CANDY galore! Check [...]

Today is also the first night of the Champion League 1/8-finals. Yes, that’s football/soccer. And yes, it’s a VERY big deal! There are several games on, and I’ll be battling my father for the remote as we really want to see two different ones. He wants to see his Arsenal get beaten by Roma, and I [...]
Fat Tuesday

I know it must seem like it, but today is actually not only about the Royal engagement. It’s also fat Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, or…it all depends on where you are. In England and the US you eat pancakes, but here we eat semlor. Yum! It’s a cardamom bun cut in two, [...]

The suspense is killing me!!

Soon, very soon, we’ll know for sure whether they’re getting engaged or not. I’m having trouble breathing properly, I have goose bumps and tears in my eyes that won’t go away… They’ve had to close some of the streets around the palace because there’s so many people around – both from media and the public.
The [...]
Time for a royal “I do”?!

Please, please, please let it be true what the tabloids are screaming out today! “Engagement between crown princess Victoria and Daniel to be made official today”. Please let it be true! We’ve all waited so long for it to happen. And if they get engaged now the wedding will probably be this summer which would [...]
Slight change of scenery

I’ve now been back a day and a half, and the change of scenery is quite striking. We left Guadeloupe in 32 degrees Celsius, and landed in Stockholm where the temperature is -9 degrees Celsius. The photo below was taken out of my bedroom window this afternoon.
Other noteworthy recent changes is that I’m single again. [...]
